blueberries blueberries, BLUEBERRIES!!!!

when to a farm out in butler to get some corn
(15 doz. ) for the club picnic. while we were there
i got some peppers and tomatoes and basil and a cantaloupe
some garlic and BLUEBERRIES!!!!!

they had peaches, but they were rather expensive so i wouldn't
have had enough to make a pie or a cobbler.

so i've made half a dozen trips to the fridge to grab
a few berries to pop into my mouth!

i had a sandwich of fresh tomato slices and fresh basil
with kosher salt and butter on white bread for lunch.

there's not much better! s
trying out some animal jokes:

for bob-

a dance, or 2

oh how i danced
and why did i dance
that way?

a glance became a look
the music gave permission
a voyeur, an occasion of sin
it's beat like a heart in the dark
louder faster

harder

bodies, just whispers away
someone asking
someone, moving closer
answered.

believe it or not, i'm running out of chicken jokes.
i may have to start posting other jokes on fridays.

the tree is down. the only things
left are big sections that will be hauled away.
there is no noise now. s
blogthingy- because they are still cutting the tree and the shredder is scary
and i can't watch! s

You Are Balanced -
Realist -
Powerful
You feel your life is controlled both externally and internally. You have a good sense of what you can control and what you should let go.Depending on the situation, you sometimes try to exert more control.Other times, you accept things for what they are and go with the flow. You are a realist when it comes to luck. You don't attribute everything to luck, but you do know some things are random. You don't beat yourself up when bad things happen to you...But you do your best to try to make your own luck. When it comes to who's in charge, it's you.Life is a kingdom, and you're the grand ruler. You don't care much about what others think. But they better care what you think!
2 men are cutting down one of my neighbor's oaks.
these oaks are so beautiful. they must be well over
100 years old and huge. it is between his house
and mine and he was worried that it
was leaning towards his house. it isn't,
according to the tree man, but it's coming down.
this tree is at least 40 ft high and i am saddened.

the noise is appropriate i think for the death
of something only the divine could create. it
shouldn't go quietly.

the poem below is one of a few that are
thematic in my work. there are subtle differences
in them but it comes down to the same sort of
emotions, none are pleasant ones. s
tick talk

the clock is ticking
time we piss away
talking around it over it
anything but

talking about it
while the clock ticks
and the moment slips away.

i want to give congrats my friend
butch on becoming a grandpap of
a beautiful baby girl!

"Love is not just looking at each other,
it's looking in the same direction."

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

went to the polka dance last night.
it was packed! i liked watching all the older people having
such fun. i had a few slow dances, but as i said, i'm not
a polka dancer so i sat at the bar and talked with friends and
some of the people that came with the band. i was introduced to
SLIVOVITZ, a colorless plum brandy that the band drank at each
break. i was not brave or silly enough to try it, especially after
they let me smell the stuff! ah god, it smells like paint thinner
and they gleefully agreed that it WAS very much like paint thinner
but it was SLIVO and that was a good thing!
the bartender, a friend, told me of a time when a team of lady ballplayers
were in town from croatia, i think. she said they drank every one of those
tough, mine town regulars under the table. these ladies grew up with the stuff.
i think these polka players did as well. i was amazed to watch them.
needless to say, a good time was had by all! s

when it began

i didn't even notice
it was a small thought

right before i'd reach to turn off
the bedside lamp
one last glance around to
make sure everything was in it's place and

wondering if i'd open my eyes in the morning
or not wake at all.

then i began to notice
that small thought
one among the many

as i'd leave to go out
reaching out to turn on the porch light

looking around my living room
thinking suddenly that
i might not be back to unlock the door
and turn the light on.

" Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
too noble to neglect
deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect

the last two lines even now touch my heart. s

sheets still warm from the dryer

squared and neatly done with a practiced hand.
friday's chicken joke today! in case we get those damn storms and
i lose power or have to shut my computer down!

i like this because falwell makes my skin crawl (HEY i rhymed, whoda thunk it??!)

JERRY FALWELL: why'd the chicken cross the road?????

Because the chicken was gay! Isn't it obvious? Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "other side. That's what they call it - the other side. Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And, if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media white washes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side."

touch

with nails cut short
even a small skin tremble
makes earthquakes pale.
went to the mall and to dinner with my daughter
and granddaughter. i ran amuck (for me) at the new
SEPHORA there. oh god. i bought a new blush and a freakishly
expensive lip pencil but i have been a little down lately and
i had a little mad money AND it was just too good!

then my daughter and my little smoochie cute granddaughter
took me to a sushi place. (i didn't eat any sushi, i hate fish, raw fish ugh! )
but i did have a chicken dish and boiled soybeans which mai just adores!
i'm getting better with chopsticks. my kid is a pro with them.
i had a can of Tibetan tea. oh my, i loved it. it's like a carbonated tea
and i think it has ginger and some other things in it. i've never seen it anywhere else.
it's really good.

so i say, ladies, run, RUN to SEPHORA and run amuck a little! s
nice day today! not too hot, yet!

it was cool

cool and common.

blue jeaned girls

being a piece, and writing about it.
bumming a smoke, toke, god what a joke
but it was cool and it was common.
it was ours.

blogthing on a friday afternoon!

What Your Soul Really Looks Like

You are a wanderer. You constantly long for a new adventure, challenge, or even a completely different life. You are a grounded person, but you also leave room for imagination and dreams. You feet may be on the ground, but you're head is in the clouds. You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you.Your near future is likely to be filled with great successes and accomplishments. You just need to figure out how to get there. For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust

HOORAY!

pudd'n sent me the picture
of GL and him at the pirates game.

i wanted everyone to see them.
they are really cool friends! s
well, here it is. the end of the great chipmunk adventure:

it took 3(count em 3!)adults a broom and a bath towel
but we got that houdini of the rodent world out the front door
with a hearty farewell and a slam of the screendoor he is off
with tales to tell his grandmunks about! s

bob tho, is big time po'd!

this is a chipmunk

(grinny in pittsburgese)

my little desperado is an old guy, lots of grey

very experienced in evading cats and poets!

i'm getting damn tired of being a chipmunk wrangler!
i have chased bob who has been chasing the chipmunk
most of the day!

i herded the teeny beast into the cat carrier, but silly me
i forgot that the squares of the metal grid on the front
of the carrier are too big to hold a ferocious chipmunk!!!
i tilted it up on end thinking that with the grid on top i
could lug the whole thing outside and release the little
grinny to roam free once more.

not a chance. the little guy popped straight up at me
right through an opening and took off under the tv!

i finally, with a broom and a towel, nudged him toward the
kitchen.(i've rescued chipmunks before, covering them with a towel
and scooping them up. )

i opened the kitchen screen door because mr. chipmunk was
clinging to the hinges of the door, about 5 and a half ft. off the ground.

he was INCHES away from freedom so what does he do??

he scrambles back through the kitchen, into the living room
where he is in the gas logs of the fireplace!

bob keeps sticking a paw in and i just KNOW he's going to be bitten, so
i have a towel over the logs and bob and i are both tired and agitated! s
by wednesday

i'm turning up the volume
the stones scream it out to my neighbors

the ache is marrow deep
your withdrawal gives me the shakes

by midnight
i'd get on my knees .

oh, i have to say hi to boag!
i've mentioned boag and sara before.
boag is learning how to navigate his home
computer. sara and their daughter already
have no problems working one. i know boag will
pick it up in no time! s

this is me and pudd'n boy. i'm waiting for him to send me the picture
of him and his wife, GL. i have it on my computer but i can't seem
to print it out on here. as i mentioned, i'll sit on a bike
but i'm not riding on one! pudd'n and GL and their family are
really wonderful people and good friends. uncle buck
of the two poems here was pudd'n boy's (aka danny)
uncle, but he was everybody's uncle buck! s

9:39 p.m. come out little chipmunk,
come out, come out wherever you are! s
just heard that pittsburgh's mayor has cancer. i will hope
for a speedy and complete recovery. he's a really nice guy
by all accounts and i like him a lot. s
bob update:

what a morning! i'm sitting here keeping my eye on
the mighty, mighty bob. i was working on my computer here
and i could tell bob was stalking something either under the couch
or by my bookshelves. i figured it was a mouse so i was paying attention.
bob started scrambling around and growling and
i heard some high pitched squeaking when something much bigger
than a mouse shot out and headed for underneath my desk RIGHT
where my feet were!

i think it's one of my multitude of chipmunks!

so i grabbed the mighty and really revved up bob
and took him into the living room.

he's back with me in here and patiently waiting as only
cats/kittens can.

i'm waiting to try to rescue the poor little chipmunk or
at least keep bob away from him.

hopefully the little critter will find his way back outside tonight! s

a friday rant here:

i regularly read a few political blogs that i think are well done
and have style and wit. i try to make my answers to the posts,
make my points and yet be civil at the same time.
funny, how some people that disagree with the original post OR
with my responses to a post quite often resort to being snarky or
downright pissy with me because i don't resort to
rolling in the gutter verbally, that i feel or i come off, as some sort of
mary poppins/mother teresa wannabe. as if i am somehow better OR
think i am because i don't tell people to fuck off. saying "fuck off" has
NEVER to my knowledge, won an argument, of any kind.
( tho i have said it and i THINK it even more) i might as well
say, "i know i am but what are YOU...?" childish, isn't it?
i wrote to the last guy that" i know my faults better
than anyone and i never said i was some sort of a mary poppins."

i'm not, i'm real, i'm flesh and blood and fucked up more than i'd like to be,
but then again, it does make me interesting to some and
it's a tremendous amount of help
in my work.

so, that's my rant. if you don't like it,( the trolls that follow me around)

mingled sweat
a gasp

me and you
you and i
see through the same lies

emotions ache to be

we
went over to pudd'n boy's and GL's
yesterday and the day before. they
have a beautiful backyard and as i mentioned before
3 dogs and a few cats and some fun friends!
i was careful not to get sunburned this time!
pudd'n has a new digital camera and GL took my
picture sitting behind pudd'n on his harley and
another of me looking like i was swigging from a bottle of
yukon! they are funny pictures.
i haven't ridden on a motorcycle since 1970, and i'm not starting now
but the pictures are a hoot!

thea, randy's wife, bought a really nice, small wooden chest
to put the small bag of uncle buck's ashes in, that pudd'n saved
before the trip to sugar lake. buck picnicked with everyone and
even got a special gift from me.
if pudd'n sends me the picture, i'll post it..

boag and his wife sara were there, sara is a great cook
so is GL and her mom becky so there was a ton of food
and a lot of laughs. boag bought uncle buck's harley.
i don't ride but i can and do admire beauty and that bike is
really nice. i'm glad boag decided to buy buck's bike, it should stay
in the "family" i think.

there were fireworks aplenty last night.
i get nervous and the sounds make me jump a little
but they were beautiful, especially the ones that are
all golden. i couldn't help but think of my one dog i had tho. she is
afraid of thunder and firework booms. i hope wherever she is
that her new family holds her and pets her and calms
her when the 4th's
fireworks are set off! s

"Getting drunk, you're in control. It's the difference between suicide and capitulation."

(James Douglas Morrison, lead singer of The Doors)
i don't recall where i got this photo. sorry, i wish i did. it's beautiful
it's painful and

it is "my" bridge.
for which, this blog
was named.

"Among men and women, those in love do not always announce
themselves with declarations and vows. But they are the ones
who weep when you're gone. Who miss you every single night,
especially when the sky is so deep and beautiful, and
the ground so very cold."

(Alice Hoffman)
just got an e-mail from jim bennett about the poetry kit.
that's the main site of the workshop i've belonged to for about 4 years now. s

"Biggest visitors month ever. OVER 8000 unique visitors everyday and just 4000 short of a quarter million over the month. "
