Patti Smith aslo was a bit of an urban poet, though. So I thought you might know her stuff. I used to have her book "Babelogue", but it ended up on the low end of a wet basement....
here's an example, it's actually a spoken part on the Easter album, and the intro to the song I referenced earlier, "Rock N Roll Nigger"....

hey lsqrd, thanks, got up early this a.m. started to read the lyrics. great images, good word choice. cool.
i think i'd much rather read words like this than listen to them in song, can't savor them in a song as much.
The book I had was actually "Babel" not Babelogue. It seems to be out of print. But I found quite a bit of her stuff on line.
