Decadence is a relative term.
The difficulty with Peace, is that we live in a world of pre-emptive strikes.
To take the war to the enemy is a very practical military strategy.
It seems ok to strike the enemy or the opposition before they become a more dangerous threat.
I'm not condoning it, but their argument will always be they would be blamed for being irrresponsible by some - if they did not act.
Of course the tragedy is, this dosguises the real reason why the pentagon goes to war - profit - profitable munitions contracts - glory - medals for war heroes - promotion & pensions - for survivors. WAR is just a business or industry like any other, and like money it is AMORAL, it has no obligations but to profit and fat cat shareholders.
Alas c'est la vie.
Iraq has proven that you just replace one cruel dictator or regime, with a pro-US fiendly regime. Reminiscent of the US foreifn intervention failures in Central & South America.
