You Are 90% Feminist

You are a total feminist. This doesn't mean you're a man hater (in fact, you may be a man).
You just think that men and women should be treated equally. It's a simple idea but somehow complicated for the world to put into action.

i got this test over at shakesville.
i was a little bit surprised at my score, given my life.
but then again, maybe that's why i scored this.

I scored 93%. I suspect I lost those 7 points for disagreeing with the first statement, "Women should be economically and socially independent. They shouldn't rely on men to take care of them."

Sometimes, women (or men) make the decision to be economically dependent upon another person to be able to seek some goal that would otherwise be unobtainable for them: children, degree, etc.

At times, Nancy has been dependent upon me; at times, I've been dependent upon her. It's what we needed to do at the time. To say this is wrong is itself wrong. These are the decisions some people make, and I don't think someone should go around saying "it's wrong." Sometimes you do what you want to. Sometimes you do what you have to.

After 24 years of marriage, I have no idea what's "hers" and what's "mine" anymore. Our finances are thoroughly intertwined. We're dependent upon each other.

I've deliberately put both our names on all major items and credit so that, should something happen to one of us, there's no question that everything belongs to the survivor, including the good credit score.

Given my emergency-laden lifestyle ("If you're going to work here for the length of the Somerset disaster, you will need certain shots and you should have a current valid will."), she'll probably be the one surviving.

you are right. in life we often do what we have to.

i've done pretty much what i had to my whole life. sometimes i've done what i wanted to, but not as often.

sometimes, in both cases it turned out well, sometimes it didn't.

but i do agree that everyone should be treated equally and be allowed to do whatever thay choose, to the best of their ablity.

i tried to teach my daughter that and i think she has done that. i hope her daughter does as well, no matter how she chooses or how life chooses some things for her.

Only a little surprising, I scored 81%. But I've never considered myself a "feminist". And I don't belive you have to be a feminist to value women as human beings....

As you say, Sherry "everyone should be treated equally and be allowed to do whatever thay choose, to the best of their ablity." I'm not sure what kind of "-ist" that makes me....
