Limbaugh:
Bipartisanship occurs only after one other result, and that is victory. In other words, let's say as conservatives liberals demand that we be bipartisan with them in Congress. What they mean is: We check our core principles at the door, come in, let them run the show and agree with them. That's bipartisanship to them. To us, bipartisanship is them being forced to agree with us after we politically have cleaned their clocks and beaten them. And that has to be what we're focused on.
me-if they keep listening to this ex-disc jockey then they have truly lost it!

Dear sherry,
We just got the news: the U.S. House has passed the fully inclusive Matthew Shepard Act.
This was not an easy victory. But we WON in the House – thanks in part to the tireless, fearless Judy Shepard, who joined me in critical last-minute meetings on Capitol Hill today.
Now the battle moves to the Senate.
We need every Senator to know we want quick action on the inclusive hate crimes bill. You've emailed, you've called, you've donated – and I thank you deeply – but I hope you understand that this fight is far from over.
President Obama has pledged to sign the bill, but to get it to his desk we'll need to pass it through the Senate first. And with the lies from right-wing groups ALREADY intensifying – one group went so far as to say the bill makes "pedophiles a protected class" and is "pro-child molester" – it's not going to be easy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Hermitage Hotel has afternoon tea in the grand lobby. Down-filled duvets (that's a fancy word for comforters). A presidential suite with 2,000 square feet. And a really nice toilet.
So nice, in fact, that it's been voted (drum roll please) America's best restroom. Flush in the middle of downtown Nashville, the luxury hotel and its ground-floor men's bathroom are definitely the head (so to speak) of the class.
The redoubtable restroom is art-deco style with gleaming lime-green-and-black leaded glass tiles, lime-green fixtures, terrazzo floor and a two-seat shoeshine station. "You just can't find anything like it anywhere else," says Janet Kurtz, director of sales and marketing at the hotel.
The restroom won the honor in online voting sponsored by Cincinnati-based Cintas Corp., which supplies restroom hygiene products and services. The company says "tens of thousands" of people voted over two months last summer. Precise numbers are kept, well, private. Criteria were hygiene, style and access to the public. The highfalutin honor has earned the restroom entry to "America's Best Restroom Hall of Fame."
"People see it and fall in love with it," Kurtz said.
It has four stools, three urinals, four sinks, spotless mirrors and a Sultan telephone that connects to the front desk.
And, (how do you put this delicately?) women seem attracted to it.
Lita Esquinance of Bradley County, Tenn., guides friends to the restroom for a discreet peek just about every time she visits Nashville. One of them, Sonja Luckie, jokingly summed up her visit with this discerning observation:
"For men, it's very stimulating."
The hotel, built in 1910 and renovated in 2003, has 122 guest rooms and suites. The restroom, down the hall from the hotel bar and restaurant, dates back to 1939.
Do they leave the light on for you? Not necessarily, but the famous restroom is cleaned hourly.
In her six years at the hotel Kurtz has never used the men's restroom. But just wait. "I hope they have a ladies' night sometime."
All the World's a Stage
by William Shakespeare
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything

wow, i overdid the onions in the mac and bean salad with the roasted red pepper dressing!!! sore mouth or not, i brushed my teeth twice! it was sood stuff but geeezzzz.
i am enjoying the hell out of this switch by specter. oh my i am!
watching the republicans trying to gnaw on his bones is just so Shakespearean with a dash of 3 stooges sprinkled thru the pages of the play.
specter has pretty much voted as he pleased which pisses everyone off at one time or another. i know he's pissed me off but better him than toomey. toomey's ideas make little ricky seem moderate.
so, i figure while i'm sitting around waiting to feel better i'll have a grand time watching the news programs tonight.

Evening Star
by Edgar Allan Poe
'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Summer Dawn
by Spike Milligan
My sleeping children are still flying dreams
in their goose-down heads.
The lush of the river singing morning songs
Fish watch their ceilings turn sun-white.
The grey-green pike lances upstream
Kale, like mermaid's hair
points the water's drift.
All is morning hush
and bird beautiful.
I only,
I didn't have flu.

Baby Face
by Carl Sandburg
WHITE MOON comes in on a baby face.
The shafts across her bed are flimmering.
Out on the land White Moon shines,
Shines and glimmers against gnarled shadows,
All silver to slow twisted shadows
Falling across the long road that runs from the house.
Keep a little of your beauty
And some of your flimmering silver
For her by the window to-night
Where you come in, White Moon.

An old Italian lived alone in New Jersey . He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard.
His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love, Papa
A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Pop,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried.
Love,
Vinnie
At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.
That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Pop,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love you,
Vinnie

here's max, sitting on the top back of the loveseat. the flowers are in my yard. the tulips were an easter gift from my late brother-in law, tommy. he and my niece jessie bought them the day before good friday.
friday, which was the day he passed suddenly.
he always bought plants for the ladies in the family for easter.
tommy had a bad heart, but no one expected this.
he collapsed in the middle of the road outside of his home as my sister and jess called for 911 and a stranger(bless her) did CPR. it didn't work.
i am praying that the tulips take and come back every year.

got the screens in the storm doors this morning.
layla is on a bird/squirrel watch as she perches on anything high enough to give her a view.
the feathered and furry outside have been here long enough to not care that she is!
max is confused. he's got more beagle to him than pug and the scents from the little bit of woods at the back of the house are making him nuts.
bob, well bob doesn't care much at all. he's mellow that way.

What is the best day of the week to sleep?
Snooze-day!
How many rotten eggs does it take to make a stink bomb?
A phew!
What do cannibals eat for breakfast?
Buttered host!
What holds the sun up in the sky?
Sunbeams!
What does "Maximum" mean?
A very big mother!
What is full of holes but can still hold water?
A sponge!
Why is perfume obedient?
Because it is scent wherever it goes!

I Like For You To Be Still
by Pablo Neruda
I like for you to be still
It is as though you are absent
And you hear me from far away
And my voice does not touch you
It seems as though your eyes had flown away
And it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth
As all things are filled with my soul
You emerge from the things
Filled with my soul
You are like my soul
A butterfly of dream
And you are like the word: Melancholy
I like for you to be still
And you seem far away
It sounds as though you are lamenting
A butterfly cooing like a dove
And you hear me from far away
And my voice does not reach you
Let me come to be still in your silence
And let me talk to you with your silence
That is bright as a lamp
Simple, as a ring
You are like the night
With its stillness and constellations
Your silence is that of a star
As remote and candid
I like for you to be still
It is as though you are absent
Distant and full of sorrow
So you would've died
One word then, One smile is enough
And I'm happy;
Happy that it's not true

i was over at the GROUP NEWS BLOG and read a great post there on april being, as you know, national poetry month.
i can not pick any one poem that shaped me or touched me but this poet and this book
has to be my all time favorite. the fact that he is from here and these poems are of us is just a bonus.
buy the book "the origins of evening". you won't be sorry. i promise.
Robert Gibb has published four selections of poetry, one of which, Momentary Days, won the Camden Poetry Award. His most recent collection, The Origins of Evening, was named Winner of the 1997 National Poetry Series, and his first book, The Winter House, was a Devin's Award Finalist. One chapbook, The Names of the Earth in Summer, won Stone Country magazine's Tenth Anniversary Award Volume; another, A Geography of Common Names, was a Devil's Millhopper's Chapbook winner. Gibb is a winner of an NEA grant, three Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grants, and a Pushcart Prize. He lives in New Homestead, Pennsylvania.

this is the bride and groom that sat atop the cake at the wedding i was just at.
i've seen a lot of cake toppers but never one like this.
i guess it means that they have each other's backs.(in case you can't tell. they both have BIG guns)
the outfit on the bride figure cracked me up because the bride herself is a sweet and shy girl who would never wear an outfit like it.
firehall weddings are fun and interesting even for the only liberal in the room!

Good news! If you have FIOS in the Pittsburgh area, or want to switch to it, you can now see It’s Alive on FIOS!
If you don’t have FIOS, don’t despair – you can still watch WBGN over-the-air (with an antenna) or via the webcast at www.theitsaliveshow.com. And sit tight – good news for non-FIOS subscribers will be announced as soon as we are legally and contractually permitted to do so.
(got this in an e-mail last week! i'm THRILLED!)

Enigmas
by Pablo Neruda
You've asked me what the lobster is weaving there with
his golden feet?
I reply, the ocean knows this.
You say, what is the ascidia waiting for in its transparent
bell? What is it waiting for?
I tell you it is waiting for time, like you.
You ask me whom the Macrocystis alga hugs in its arms?
Study, study it, at a certain hour, in a certain sea I know.
You question me about the wicked tusk of the narwhal,
and I reply by describing
how the sea unicorn with the harpoon in it dies.
You enquire about the kingfisher's feathers,
which tremble in the pure springs of the southern tides?
Or you've found in the cards a new question touching on
the crystal architecture
of the sea anemone, and you'll deal that to me now?
You want to understand the electric nature of the ocean
spines?
The armored stalactite that breaks as it walks?
The hook of the angler fish, the music stretched out
in the deep places like a thread in the water?
I want to tell you the ocean knows this, that life in its
jewel boxes
is endless as the sand, impossible to count, pure,
and among the blood-colored grapes time has made the
petal
hard and shiny, made the jellyfish full of light
and untied its knot, letting its musical threads fall
from a horn of plenty made of infinite mother-of-pearl.
I am nothing but the empty net which has gone on ahead
of human eyes, dead in those darknesses,
of fingers accustomed to the triangle, longitudes
on the timid globe of an orange.
I walked around as you do, investigating
the endless star,
and in my net, during the night, I woke up naked,
the only thing caught, a fish trapped inside the wind.
by Pablo Neruda
I want to tell you the ocean knows this, that life in its

well i went to the wedding yesterday. i have been to all different types of weddings and different faiths and secular ones. i've been to really fancy and jp weddings. this was a firehall wedding and they can be the most fun!
and so, there i was, sitting next to, 2 rabid fox watching republican guys(who i know well) in a hall full of gun loving people and i held my own!(and had a ball doing so!)
it was a great reception. tons of food and a table FULL of cookies!
the bride was beautiful!

a beautiful morning. a glorious day.
two families that i know are having weddings today for their kids. 4 new lives starting. odd, i've been to 2 funerals this past week and more to come and then the sun comes out and lives go on and celebrations. new beginnings.
circles in circles and the earth keeps turning, seasons change and
the sun shines.

this was really weird.
just had max outside. there are bright blue skies and not 1 cloud.
i looked up and there was a flock of vultures wheeling and circling.
one kept dipping lower and lower with each pass. i could even see his eye and his beak so i know he was a turkey vulture.
i've seen them about 10 or 15 minutes drive north of here. so i guess they too are running out of habitat and moving closer towards the city. just like the coyotes and the turkeys and deer.
max didn't seem to care after sniffing the air for a minute.
i thought it was cool.

Dear sherry,
"War is the thread that binds, even as it unravels." -- Scott Kesterson, veteran and war reporter
Today we'd like to tell you about an important new project that has the potential to both change the way veterans communicate and to revolutionize the treatment of combat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It's called Not Alone, and this is what it's all about:
Mike Jones was back home for almost a year when he started to wonder why the problems weren't going away. He wondered why he couldn't drive down the road without his heart racing, why he could still hear the echo of chatter on the tactical radio in his head, and why the dreams wouldn't stop. "I can do this," Mike said to himself. "I survived war. I can defeat this."
Yet there he was, angry and bitter a year after his second tour. He was alone. For the first time in his life, something was defeating him. Mike's body and his mind were still on patrol. He just wasn't deployed anymore.
It doesn't have to be like that.
Not Alone is a community, by warriors and spouses and for warriors and spouses, created to help find the new normal after the war. It lets warriors and spouses anonymously talk about their problems through forums, social networking and blogs. Here you can find others that have gone through exactly what you have gone through. And soon you will be able to find expert help here too.
You can help and find help at Not Alone in three ways...
Listen to stories of other VoteVets.org members such as Brandon Friedman and Kayla Williams, as they discuss what war is like and what they faced in coming home. Hear how they've begun to rebuild their lives after the devastation of war. Or hear how spouses like Michelle Briggs and Marshele Waddell picked up the pieces after their husbands returned with deep wounds, visible and not.
Sign up now! Join the community. Find support and be supported in the forums.
Donate either time or money to tackle the issues that combat stress are placing on our warriors and families today. Rand, in their groundbreaking 2007 study, estimates that over 300,000 families are dealing with combat stress and post-traumatic stress.
Most importantly, you can spread the word. Tell others about Not Alone.
Sincerely,
Brandon Friedman

tho i do pause a second now before indulging.
nothing much to say. just trying to come up with a new poem to go with the ones for my book. there's a theme to it and i need to connect the poems. they stand on their own but the story is incomplete.

What do you call an American drawing?
Yankee doodle!
I was once in a play called "Breakfast in Bed"
Did you have a big role?
No just toast and marmalade!
What key went to college?
Yale!
What is a volcano?
A mountain with hiccups!
Why was the broom late?
It over swept!
What runs but never walks?
Water!
What is green, four legs and two trunks?
Two seasick tourists!
